So what is KarieandScott.com?
This is the story of a husband and wife that have embarked on an adventure of a lifetime. We sold (almost) everything we own and hopped on a plane to Barcelona with nowhere to live. KarieandScott.com is a travelogue (travel blog) of our experiences and adventures living in Barcelona and traveling throughout Europe. We hope that you find our writings & photography helpful and informative, or at least interesting enough to look at.
But seriously, who are we?
I ditched my childhood scene of the Los Angeles suburbs and headed to Northern California where I attended University of the Pacific. In a class called “Introduction to Argumentation” I met Karie, who is now my wife, best friend, and travel partner. After jobs as a photojournalist, programmer, and systems engineer, I now work remotely, while I travel, as a product developer. My interests change weekly, but this week I have a fascination with finding land no human has ever set foot on, the Rubik’s Cube, photography, and proving the accuracy of my internal GPS.
I am originally from Stockton, California, where I attended University of the Pacific, met & married my BFF, adopted a 4-legged child, then we all packed up and headed south to San Diego. My professional background is in marketing and small business coaching, and I am currently writing my first book. My interests include shoes, traveling, shopping, coffee, meeting interesting people, sunshine, checking things off lists, food, the Dollar-to-Euro exchange rate, efficient public transportation systems, Cheez-Its, spreadsheets, and recognizing special moments while I’m in them.
Mom & Dad adopted me when I was 3 months old, and I taught them everything they know about patience, responsibility, and how to give fantastic ear rubs. Now, they are off pursuing their dreams, and I couldn’t be prouder. In the meantime, I am living in Stockton with Pop, Nana, Bailey the beagle & Baub the cat, where I also work as the Head of Security, Entertainment and Swimming Pool Usage. My interests include the beach, Bounce dryer sheets, peanut butter, and everybody.
Please feel free to leave us a comment, send us a question, or better yet, come visit us. Or, if you can’t make it to Europe, but you’re in California and have a hankering to throw a ball, visit Penny Lane. She’s really good at fetching.
